Mortgage Specialist (Multifamily/Commercial Loan)

 
 
A Mortgage Specialist manages the collection of information for the origination and underwriting of multi-family mortgage loans, handles customer inquiries or problems, and performs all general tasks related to mortgage origination and underwriting.   Specifically, the Mortgage Specialist is responsible for:
 
1.      Working collaboratively with Assistant Product Manager Lending on maintenance of overall production systems and processes
2.      Drafting loan applications and other borrower document as well as the initial drafting of investment reports
3.      Hiring third-party service providers necessary to the underwriting process such as appraisers and market analysts. Ensure reports are received on a timely basis and perform initial review of third party reports.
4.      Managing the due diligence collection process to ensure information is received on a timely basis.
5.      Ensuring loan information is entered accurately into various database systems.
6.      Providing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports to investors for various lending products.
7.      Supporting the preparation of applications to various investors in community development finance. Reporting to such funders as required.
8.      Providing general office administration.
9.      Participating in departmental staff meetings and company-wide staff meetings.
10. Maintaining a professional appearance and presence at all times.
11. Performing other duties which may be requested by GLCF management and/or executive staff.
 
Required Skills:
 
  • Familiarity with mortgage loan documents and terminology
  • Familiarity with mortgage loan processing systems
  • Strong detail orientation
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers, peers, and senior management
  • Ability to learn new systems and work in internal and external databases
  • Ability to manage individual workflow to completion and meet required deadlines

Desired Experience:
 
The applicant should have a background in banking or real estate , with general familiarity with lending and real estate transactions (e.g., prior experience in loan underwriting or processing, title company closing, paralegal, real estate brokering)
 
 
Minimum Educational Requirement:
 
  • Bachelor Degree
