The Brownfield Redevelopment Financing Act creates an opportunity for cities and counties to support aggressive demolition and stabilization programs in target neighborhoods. Tax Increment Financing (TIF) reimburses investments in environmental activities, demolition, infrastructure improvements and title clearance on eligible properties. Brownfield TIF enables cities to use school taxes to support targeted neighborhood redevelopment activities, increase the overall property values in targeted areas and brings properties currently owned by the city or county back onto the tax roles.
